notes from the movie - Three of Us
The conversations of regular day to day, which now have the tech embedded. The recipe from YouTube.
The bittersweetness of the old time friendships being renewed.
The 'past-lives' like analogy. Not a distance like continents but of the decades and memories.
The kindness of each of the characters.
The childhood that so many times is one of the truest connection of our characters in adulthood. And going back physically to those pathways, rediscovering ourselves and introducing/reintroducing ourselves to the ones closest to us.
Pradeep .."umeed chodne ki bahut koshish kari".. tried to give up hope
Sarika "ajeeb laga par bahut pyara ajeeb laga"
Dibakar "tum kabhi mere sath itna khush hui ho"
Shailja "seedha saadha jeevan hamein yaad nahin rehta"
"hum sath mein aakhri bar kab dukhi the"
It felt as if eavesdropping into someone's deep vulnerable moment.
Venu. The way some calamities dug holes in us. And sharing brings some relief.
Udgam. Origin. .
Same director who made the other beautiful movie - Killa. Avinash Arun Dhaware.
and then shared some thoughts with the director..
Everyone's own individuality so beautiful intact.
Beautiful choice of characters and giving them depths, one can imagine Shefali Shah in this role. What was surprise was Jaideep Ahlawat, who was always seen playing intense masculine roles and a wonderful upliftment, depth and maturity that this story brought to his persona. The one who has interests that are rarely depicted in male characters, being a high achiever and also a writer, also the one who supported his mom, visualized bringing back his Dad. The life circumstances that make one bitter and lose touch with their inner core, he healed himself and accepted the scenarios, built hobbies and immersed into the work as well, becoming a branch manager. Observing life through poetry, kept his innocence, channeling the creativity through embroidery, being surrounded by women in life. Reminded of an interview from Masaba, how being raised by women bring about a softer approach to life.
I so often see my women friends even being so bitter and filled with feelings of hurt and hate towards the world, people around, that I find befuddling. Right in some sense. Also, so many emotions and feelings what we think are true are just not real. And it takes a lot of discipline to be gentle with our own hearts and let everything flow, with indifference.
The character that breaks the stereotype, I wonder if for actors what effort it takes to channel and transform.
And Swanand Kirkire, only had known for his exceptional writing (tu kisi rail si guzarti hai...), and here being the relatable person we have all seen in our lives. The supportive, stood by the lifetime, the comfort of long term relationships that gets built overtime and also the unsaid resentments, the ebbs and flow and also what disappear with time and bids of connection.
Reminded of how in Gully Boy, Vijay Maurya had written quite a lot of dialogues while also acting in it.
The folk song in the background as they went exploring-
